Lonesome Roses
Claire Hashem-Hanlon and Chris Parreira had both been writing songs on their own for years before they met. When a mutual friend introduced the two in late 2009, they discovered that they had several similar interests and decided to get together to record and hopefully work on each others material.
Chris had been searching for a violin player who could also write songs and sing harmonies. The pair began to practice regularly and perform at local open mics, and before long they dubbed themselves the Lonesome Roses and were playing showcases at breweries, coffeeshops and farmers markets.
As a songwriter, Claire has many pop and folk influences. She also has a background in classical violin, but over the years has moved more towards bluegrass fiddle. That combination fit perfectly with Chris's road weary indie-americana songs, and together they present a combination of folk, pop and bluegrass that people often put somewhere between the Weepies and Gillian Welch/Dave Rawlings.
